Procognia is pleased to announce that it has received Helsinki Committee approval from Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer to perform a diagnostic trial on human participants. The focus of the research is the correlation between glycosylated biomarkers in the peripheral blood stream and the presence of cancer and inflammatory diseases in the intestine.
The company's intention is to develop a diagnostic kit for colon cancer through a blood test on the basis of the technology it has developed to diagnose and monitor the differences between healthy people and cancer patients at various stages of the disease by analyzing different glycan structures.
This trial follows preliminary results the company recently achieved (reported at the beginning of September 2009), which reflect significant differences between healthy people and patients with stomach and pancreatic cancers on the basis of analyzing glycan structures in the blood (serum).
